Mounting Mounting Blocks

Better is a handful of rest than two handfuls of hard work and chasing after the wind

Final assembly of The Base, Oil Tray and Mounting Blocks began with placing the Oil Tray on top of The Base and aligning the holes…

Next, I applied some silicone sealant around the underside of the Mounting Blocks. Whilst this will have The Mythical Purists raging (I couldn’t care less; it’s my lathe) it’ll stop leaks…

The Mounting Blocks were then fitted to The Base/Oil Tray Combine and bolted tight from inside The Base…

I thought it best to put some large washers between The Mounting Blocks and the Bed…

…and bolting it down, not too tight at the moment. In fact, I had to lift it off and on a couple of times; the Threaded Rods and The Levellers needed adjusting a couple of times to get a balanced fit all round. The Bed has to be held just right for it to drop on to all four rods. It’s easy to see how that one rod got bent and damaged.

I’m calling that Completion Of Phase One. Onwards and Upwards!
